Adding Navigation

I worked today on making our play button on the main menu work. I got it to show up and change colors and I should be able to get it to work properly tomorrow. I also posted a video related to the topic of drunk driving because that is what our game will be about. The video shows a woman drivng through a set up course and then driving through it again while wearing goggles that simulate some of the effects of drunk driving. She also had to take a sobriety test while wearing the goggles.

Drawing In Flash

We started drawing some of the pieces for our game in flash and are now working on making the car move. We are trying to start off in baby steps and not get too ahead of ourselves. If we can get a little bit done everyday then our game will begin to come together piece by piece and it willbe finished before we know it.

Planning Your Game

Krystley and I created our team page which contains our design plan and timeline. We will be sharing most of the responsibilites so that we stay on the same page with each other, but there may be some instances where it is necessary for us to have our own individual jobs. Our only disagreement is over who is better at drawing pictures, but I think we both know who is better already. We were inspired to make a game about drunk driving because it affects so many people our age.

Paper Prototyping

My partner, Krystley, and I made a paper prototype for the game that we will be creating. We called the game G.A.D.D., which stands for Games Against Drunk Driving. Our paper prototype consisted of a main menu, instructions, page to choose a color for your car, and the first level of the game. We made a video of ourselves demonstrating how our game will be played and we will be uploading it to viddler.com and then to our wiki pages. It was fun to actually be able to put our ideas into action and will be even better when they are fully realized in our final game.

Imagining Your Game

I will be working with Krystley on my mini game. Our game will deal with the subject of drunk driving because it is a huge problem that affects everyone, especially teenagers that are around our age. Everything in our power should be done to prevent drunk driving, which could lead to saving others' lives. Our game will show the dangers of driving while intoxicated and hopefully discourage others from drinking while driving.

Mini Game

Today we finished our mini games and uploaded them to our wikis. They all had the same basic idea. A rabbit had to catch carrots while avoiding pizzas and mushrooms. There is also a wolf chasing you around the screen. My game was awesome and had a western theme with a saloon, cowboy hats, and a cool cactus. These games might not be as fun as Xbox, but it is cool to make your own game and then have other people play it. It should be a lot of fun to come up with new ideas for another game to create.
